About Alta Floresta

Alta Floresta – Cristalino National Park considered as Private National Heritage Reserve (PNHR) has a primary and lush forest, home to a variety of natural habitats. The Cristalino reserve is the first PNHR of northern Mato Grosso, created in 1997 by the enterprise itself. The PNHR is a private area, recorded in perpetuity, with the goal of conserving Brazil’s biological diversity. The creation of a PNHR is a voluntary act of the owner of an area whose main beneficiary is the natural environment.

PNHR GOALS:

– Conservation of natural resources and biodiversity.

– Environmental education.

– Responsible tourism through small groups on groomed trails.

– Support for research projects through the Cristalino Foundation.

The Reserve is divided into geographical areas with different uses and purposes such as tourism, conservation, research and monitoring. This area is managed by a team with different areas of expertise – such as biology, management and education – through the Cristalino Foundation.

The Cristalino forest reserve borders with the Cristalino State Park, an important conserved area of 184,900 hectares in the Amazon. This park connects with the Air Force Reserve, with 2.16 million hectares. Other reserves also linked in this mosaic are: Biological Reserve Headwaters, the Xingu Reserve, and Kayabi Mundurukú Indigenous Area, Juruena National Park, New River Park, Jamanxim National Forest, Crepori National Forest, Mosaic Apuí Sucunduri Park, Jatuarana National Forest Reserve and Aripuana.

Alta Floresta is a paradise for fauna and flora lovers. Especially birds. The lodge offers a panel of activities to enjoy as much as possible the nature and its beauty. what to do in Alta Floresta

CANOEING

The tranquil waters of the Cristalino River are perfect for canoeing, and the hotel provides comfortable safety equipment. You can often combine hikes with canoeing on a single outing. Moreover, the chance to glide silently along the river not only make it easier to enjoy the scenery, but also enhances the possibility of spotting birds, monkeys…

TRAILS

Nature hikes along the 30 km (18.5 mi) of trails within the reserve, in small groups, provide an understanding of the tropical ecosystem. The trails pass through different types of vegetation, such as terra firma forest (Evergreen forest not subject to flooding), wetland forest, tropical campinarana and upland areas where deciduous forest predominates – with bare branches and beautiful bromeliads in flower during certain parts of the year.

OBSERVATION TOWERS

For a truly unique Amazon experience, you must not miss out on a visit to one of our Observation Towers. Since the trees in the region are very tall, with the emergent species reaching over 45 meters (145 feet), our towers provide an excellent platform for observing the birds that inhabit the forest canopy, such as Ttanagers, Chatterers, Macaws, Parrots, Toucans and Aracaris.

WATCHING THE FAUNA AND FLORA

Several iconic species of Brazilian fauna and flora that represent the wonderful biodiversity of the country can be found in this region. Among these are the Harpy Eagles (Harpia Harpyja), Tapirs (Tapirus Terrestris), Giant Otters (Pteronura Brasiliensis), White-Whiskered Spider Monkeys (Ateles Marginatus), Collared Peccarys (Tayassu Tajacu), White-Nosed Saki Monkeys (Chiropotes Albinasus), Red-Handed Howler Monkeys (Alouatta Belzebul),….

BOAT TRIPS

First stop at the look out of the cliffs of the Chapada and stop for photos, visit the marina and harbor Manso Manso Dam. Then we dive in the Enchanted Aquarius River. We follow the village for a delicious swim in the creek resort stowed with various types of fish.

WATERFALLS CIRCUIT

Boat trips, with our experienced guides in attendance, are a fundamental part of your visit. Many of the trails are only accessible by boat, and on the journey you will have the opportunity to observe wildlife along the rivers. One of the trips includes a visit to the River Teles Pires to enjoy the sunset. The meeting of the waters of the Teles Pires with those of the Cristalino River  has a fascinating intermingling of its respective light and dark shades.
